Dental Sensitivity

Sensitive teeth occur when the top surface ,the enamel is worn off exposing the inner layer, dentin.
There are many factors that may lead to sensitive teeth, including.
Brushing too hard. Over time, brushing too hard or using a hard-bristled toothbrush can wear down
enamel and cause the dentin to be exposed. Aggressive tooth brushing will hurt the gums causing them
to pull away leading to a condition known as gum recession.
Teeth grinding . Grinding or clenching your teeth is an extremely traumatic habit to have as it may wears down the
enamel and expose underlying dentin causing severe dental
Cracked teeth. Chipped or broken teeth may be due to cavities or accidental fall. The exposed surfaces experience great
sensitive to thermal changes of hot or cold foodstuffs
Acidic foods. Regular consumption of foods and drinks with a high acidic content, such as citrus fruits, tomatoes, pickles,
and juices, will cause enamel erosion. This exposes the inner tooth surface, dentin, leading to sensitivity.
Tooth whitening products. A majority of these products found over-the-counter in cosmetic shops and supermarkets are
extremely abrasive. They wear off the enamel surfaces causing permanent and irreversible damage of teeth.
